Fruit farming provides crucially important employment opportunities in many countries. In some, such as South Africa, it even is the largest single employer.

Farmers work their lands, vineyards and plantations for long hours every day, and produce fruit of exceptional quality.

In many instances their fruit disappears into a grey, multi-layered supply chain. More often than not, fruit is passed from buyer to buyer, adding cost upon cost and commission upon commission.

The result is a situation whereby a large portion of the farmers’ potential profit is destroyed.

An extensive chain of middle-men enjoy the benefits, reaping in the funds which should have flowed back to farmers and their workers.
